Plastic waste is one of the biggest pollutants to Indian cities - and recent development has worsened the situation in Pune city. The tar roads are very much vulnerable to water but polymer-modified bitumen increases the resistance to water within a very low cost. This entire project is being carried under the guidance and suggestions from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)'s Standing committee has cleared the proposal for 24x7 water supply system in the city. Total cost of the project is pegged at Rs 1,800 crore. PMC. Contract has been given to a Italy based company named Studio Gallery Ingeria (SGI). This company will handle the full project, right from preparing the report to developing the system and then maintaining. Ironically this is the fifth time tender for 24x7 water supply was floated. The last four attempts failed due to technical reasons.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) cancelled the Shaniwarwada festival organised during the 10-day Ganesh festival. This is the first time this festival will not be held since its start 8 years ago. The festival was scheduled to start from September 8 2011 "The bomb blast in Delhi has created fear among people and raises security concerns" said Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal.
