MUMBAI, Nov. 19: Malegaon bomb blast accused Lt. Col. Srikant Prasad Purohit on Tuesday was handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Pune for forgery and cheating. Immediately after the Nashik court sent Lt. Col. Shrikant Purohit in judicial custody, the team of Pune ATS asked for his police custody. The case against Lt. Col. Purohit in Pune is that he allegedly procured an arms licence to one Milind Date, 43, a resident of Yerandwand in the year 2006. Mr Date had approached the Mumbai ATS with the complaint against Lt. Col. Purohit and accordingly a complaint was registered against him in Pune. The ATS informed that Mr Date approached them on November 4 and a case was registered against Lt. Col. Purohit under Sections 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 474 (having possession of documents described in section 467) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), later the investigations was transferred to the Pune ATS. Interestingly on Saturday, Shirish, younger brother of Mr Date, had approached the ATS and had registered a similar case against Lt. Col. Purohit. In the complaint registered by Mr Shirish he had said that Lt. Col. Purohit misled him and had brought the arms licence for him from the Army quota. Meanwhile, the court also handed over the custody of Sameer Kulkarni to the Kadki police station in Pune. Kulkarni is involved in Vineyard Church attacks in Pune. The attack left the church’s patron Peter Silve seriously injured. A case was registered against Kulkarni allegedly as the main accused. Lt. Col. Purohit and Kulkarni would be presented before the court in Pune on Wednesday. The court also allowed Lt. Col. Purohit’s family members to meet him in the court.
