Vihir' to be screened at Berlin Film Fest

PUNE: Marathi film Vihir' a tale of two adolescent cousins who contemplate their future in rural Maharashtra is already finding international recognition. Directed by Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni, the film has been officially invited to the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, 2010, better known as Berlinale, to be held in Berlin, Germany, from February 11 to 21.

Czech film maker wins award at India´s Pune film festival

Pune - Czech film-maker Maria Prochazkova has won an award for her film Who´s Afraid of the Wolf (2008) at the 8th international film festival in Pune that ended on Thursday, Petr Slavik, from the Bontonfilm company, told CTK today.

Prochazkova, the film director, screenwriter and costume designer, in her film combines elements of a gloomy fairy tale with a children´s comedy and a psychological drama for adults.

'Endhiran' is full of surprises: Shankar

Director Shankar, who has been tight-lipped so far about his action-packed sci-fi Tamil film "Endhiran" starring superstar Rajnikant and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, reveals that the movie is almost finished and has lots of surprises in store for the audience.

"'Endhiran' is almost complete. 90 percent of the shooting is over," Shankar wrote on his blog www.directorshankaronline.com.

"I have just finished the action sequences of the film 'Endhiran' in Pune and Lonawala. both the leading artists of the film were present during the shooting," he wrote.

8th Pune International film fest to open on January 7

Pune: The 8th Pune International Film Festival will be inaugurated by Bollywood legend Dev Anand on January 7.

Around 160 films from 48 countries will be screened at the week-long event, sponsored by Maharashtra government.

Veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dr Shreeram Lagoo will be conferred with 'Jeevan Gaurav' award on the occasion, Dr Jabbar Patel, director and Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the festival told a press conference here today.

Noted music director Pyarelal too will be felicitated with the late SD Burman award, they said.
