policy' is being prepared. The draft will be presented to the chief minister on the occasion of National Youth Day on January 12 with a demand to declare it the policy of the state.

A team of 100 youth were working for the last seven months on the draft, being prepared by the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai, and the Navmaharashtra Yuva Abhiyan, a department of the Pratisthan.

A different kind of dance, music fest

PUNE: Parikramaa,' a two-day dance and music festival, will be held in the city to present much more than the obvious and common in classical dance and music.

The event, to be held on November 28 and 29, has been organised by Kalavardhini Charitable Trust, the dance institute of Bharat Natyam danseuse Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar.

City boasts of script bank with over 2,200 plays

PUNE: With a collection of Marathi plays ranging from translations of 1883 to the musical dramas of 1918s to the more recent plays belonging to the Theatre of the Absurd, the city boasts of a script bank of plays with a repertoire of over 2,200 dramas.

The script bank features rare, out-of-print plays written by known as well as little-known playwrights in the history of Marathi drama. What makes this archive so special is the fact that the collector of these invaluable scripts willingly shares his treasure with anyone interested.

February and filmgoers will get a chance to watch Independent films made by British directors in multiplexes across Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

Sarah McKenzie, senior executive (export development) of the UK Film Council who is in Mumbai for the 11th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival said, "Not only will the audience get to watch films, but will also be able to interact with the cast after the screening of the film.''

Sawai Gandharva festival postponed

The festival is usually held early in December and this is the first time in the history of the Sawai Gandharva festival that it has been postponed. Last year it was held amidst unprecedented security after the 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai.

A statement issued here on Saturday by Shriniwas Joshi, executive president of ASPM, and executive secretary Shrikant Deshpande said that the decision was taken following consultations with district collector Chandrakant Dalvi and municipal commissioner Mahesh Zagade.

Saya Date of Pune has a date with film production

PUNE - Saya Date, a teenage girl from Pune has scripted, directed and produced a 50-minute video feature film.

‘On The Other Line,’ an English language film based on the darker side of social networking websites, depicts the dangerous consequences of excessive Internet chatting.

Saya and her friends used the streets of Pune and their homes as location so as to lower the cost of production, which was a mere 5,000 rupees .

Saya, who has not received professional training, used handycam and battery operated lights for shooting and editing was carried out on a PC.
