The $13 billion US engineering firm Eaton Corporation is looking at acquiring a power distribution company besides manufacturing power equipment in India.
"We are currently evaluating. Options are wide open - setting up a greenfield plant or going for acquisition. Nothing is out of question," Eaton India's Managing Director Shyam Kambeyanda said.
Disclosing to give further details on the acquisition plan, Kambeyanda said that Eaton was "always on the look out for potential targets, but has not yet started serious discussion with anybody".

PUNE: An online sex racket operating out of Pune was busted by the Delhi police following the arrest of a 21-year-old college girl from her residence at Koregaon Park here on Monday morning.
The girl was picked up in a case of theft and cheating committed at Chanakyapuri in Delhi. During investigations, the Delhi police discovered that she had started a porn website to lure youths and that she had made several visits to various places across the country, including Delhi, to attract clients.

New Delhi - India's Defence Minister AK Antony fainted while attending a parade in the western city of Pune on Saturday and was admitted to hospital, officials said.
The 68-year-old was reviewing a cadets'passing-out parade at the National Defence Academy when he slumped on the dais. Aides asked him to take a seat, but he fainted soon after.
Antony was taken to hospital on the NDA campus, where doctors said the minister had recovered but needed to rest for some time. He had suffered from exhaustion as well as heat and dehydration.

Pune, June 01 The fuel crisis in the city, sparked by the panic over fuel price hike, has started thawing after the supply of fuel from the Loni Kalbhor terminal was restored to normal from Saturday evening.
The figures of the quantities of petrol and diesel supplied to Pune district on Saturday, which were available with Food and Civil Supplies officer Apurva Wankhede and Pune district’s oil companies’ coordinator Nilesh Jagtap, indicated that the fuel supply was on its way to normalcy.

PUNE: Summer ended on a cooler note for the city that experienced a heat wave during the month of April this year. Not once did the temperature in the city rise above the 40 degrees Celsius mark in May.
The highest temperature in the past 31 days was 38.6 deg C, which Pune experienced on May 1, thereafter the temperature has ranged between 35 deg C to less than 39 deg C.

PUNE: In Pune district, agricultural loans of around Rs 498 crore from 1,66,000 loan accounts of farmers would be considered for the loan waiver scheme announced by the Union government in the Union budget 2008-'09 in February.
However, the scheme will be applicable only to certain farmers and loans taken from certain types of banks and credit societies in the district.

Pune, May 31 Every day, they get late for their offices in Mumbai. Worse, they are forced to sacrifice their 22 casual leaves — a penalty for reaching late. PATNA: A Patna police team, which had gone to Pune to investigate Vidaya murder case, returned on Thursday and claimed to have unravelled the mystery behind the Pune girl's murder in Patna.
The police are now frantically searching for the main accused, Nitin Akash, who has been absconding since the day of her murder.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has decided to provide individual identities to the three top state universities: University of Mumbai, University of Pune and University of Nagpur.
The three leading state centers of learning will be bifurcated, as the state is of the view that these institutions are too large to function effectively as a single unit.

PUNE: In a major blow to the state criminal investigation department (CID), Pune, the district and sessions court discharged eight policemen, including deputy inspector general of police Madhav Sanap, in the visa scam on Monday.
Fast-track court judge Sangitrao Patil discharged the policemen on the grounds that the CID had not obtained the mandatory sanction for prosecuting them when the chargesheet was filed.
