PUNE: Passengers who had been scheduled to travel by the Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express on Sunday morning were in for a rude shock when the train was cancelled without prior notice.
Irate passengers strongly protested with the authorities against the cancellation.
Y K Singh, public relations officer of the Central Railway's Pune division, said the train was cancelled due to a mega-block closing of tracks for undertaking repairs in the Mumbai section. "Advance notice about the cancellation could not be given as intimation about the same came in late from Mumbai," Singh said. Passengers were given refunds on their tickets, he added.
