Pune division bags several awards from Central Railway

Pune, April 17: The Pune division of Central Railway bagged several awards — in areas of family welfare, mechanical coaching, tree planting efficiency and scrap sales — from the Central Railway on the occasion of the 52nd Railway week.

Every year, the Central Railway zone awards its divisions on the basis of their performance on severalparameters.

At a function organised at the Railway Institute, Divisional Railway Manager D K Jain said the Pune division was one of the youngest and was selected as a model station. “Our first priority is to provide passenger amenities,” he said.

He said the Pune division had made record fiscal earnings of Rs 275 crore and Rs 211 crore from passenger and goods respectively. “They have even achieved a record 97 per cent in punctuality,”he said.

Two officers and 12 staffers have been felicitated with the ‘General Manager’ award.

But the division missed out on winning the coveted ‘shield of ticket checking’ award, which they won during last two years. This year though, there was no mention of a potential hat-trick despite the division achieving the deadline for revenue collection worth Rs 2.39 crore 32 days before the fiscal year came to a close. In fact, the division collected Rs 2.43 crore worth revenue by the closing date ofFebruary 28.
