Pune party revellers test positive for drugs

Pune, April 7: No less than 250 revellers detained last month at a rave party in the foothills of Sinhgad Fort near here have tested positive for drugs, Sahara Samay sources said.

According to the sources, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) tested a total of 287 blood samples after the police raid on the party on March four, and 250 tested positive for drugs.

The maximum number of blood samples tested positive for drugs like cannabis, they said.

Most of the alleged offenders, who are students and young professionals, were set free on bail by a local court after they spent a few days in Yerawada Central Jail here and in police custody.

It took almost a month for FSL to complete the testing for drugs of the 287 blood sample and one urine sample that it received from police.

In view of the drug tests, necessary legal action will be initiated against the revellers, police sources said.

It is learnt that the arrest of 287 youths, including women and some foreigners, for indulging in drug abuse had caused a nationwide flutter.
