Pune's Historical place Shaniwar Wada is in Shaniwar Peth. This place was known as 'Murujabad' / 'Murtuzabad' when Pune was under the Muslim rule. As Peshwai started in Pune this place was known as Shaniwar Peth. Shaniwar Wada was build in 1730 by Thorale Bajirao. In Peshwa's era all the policies were issued from Shaniwar Wada hence this place became politically important.
