Earlier Shukrawar Peth was known as 'Visapur', and was the largest Peth in the City. In the year 1734 Shukrawar Peth was build by Jivajipant Khasagiwale in rule of 'Shrimant Balajirao Peshwa'. It was Re Established during 1748-49. The famous market 'Mandai' of Pune is in Shukrawar Peth which was built in 1885. Next to it is the biggest market called 'Tulsi baugh' where you can find various items, in this market there is a very old 'Ram Mandir'. Near by there is a 'Raja Kelkar Museum'.
